American Petroleum Institute Accreditation

Bossong Engineering is proud to announce that they have been successfully awarded the American Petroleum Institute Standards Certificates and monogram, namely:

  • API Q1 (Q1-0515)
  • API TS/ISO 29001 (TS-1187)
  • API ISO 9001 (ISO-1480)
  • API spec 7-1 (7-1-0957)

Bossong Engineering is the only company in Australia to have API accredited spec 7-1, TS/ISO 29001,  ISO 9001 and Q1 API accredited simultaneously. We are one of only two companies in Western Australia to have API spec 7-1 certification and the only company in the Perth Metropolitan region to have API certification to 7-1.

This accreditation illustrates the innovation of the business and provides customers with the knowledge of its development and also acknowledging the quality of the company’s capabilities.

Workshop Extension Progress

Bossong Engineering is thrilled to announce that the workshop extension which will add an extra 700m2 to the original building is almost complete. The extension has been added to create space for the Mazak Nexus 400-II Oilfield Lathe and Phosphate tanks where Bossong Engineering will now be able to offer customers the full range of services for drill pipe including hard banding, thread cutting and soon phosphating to add to the list. Our cold rolling for non magnetic oilfield connections is expected in the next couple of weeks.

Bosstrak

Bossong Engineering recently developed a new capability for the Oil and Gas Industry that allows our customers to satellite track their ocean baskets or any other equipment with the Bosstrak device attached through our web site by using the following link: http://amo2.flsecure.com/bosstrack

Bosstrak is a global positioning system that provides the location of the device every 12 hours allowing customers to view the last position of your shipment or the position history on this web site. The device is highly impact resistant, rugged and water tight with two removable keys isolating the power supply to prevent radio transmission. Mazak Nexus 550-II Oilfield Lathe

Bossong Engineering has further extended its range of services it is capable of providing to the Oil and Gas Industry through purchasing a Mazak Nexus 550-II Oilfield Lathe. The business can now offer customers the full range of services for drill pipes including refurbishment, hard banding and now thread cutting. The investment in the Nexus 550-II adds the ability to taper API qualified threads and reflects Bossong Engineering’s continued desire to meet the demands of customers in the Oil and Gas Industry. The Nexus 550-II is capable of machining drill pipe 12 feet in length and has the following features:

  • Turning length range of 1025 – 3120 mm
  • Maximum turning diameter of φ580 mm
  • Dual chuck capabilities
  • A chuck size of 12″ (*15″)
  • Turning Spindle (30min.rating) capability of 2500rpm/30kW
  • Travel (X/Y/Z) of 310/-/1070, 2120, 3170 mm

Workshop Extension

Bossong engineering is currently in the process of extending their original workshop located at their Welshpool premises to accommodate for expanding needs of customers in the Oil and Gas industry. The original workshop was constructed in 2005 and covers 5000m2, the addition will add an extra 700m2 to the premises. Local Government approval for the extension has already been granted by the City of Canning, allowing construction to proceed. The extension of the workshop illustrates Bossong Engineerings continual expansion and ability to cater for the needs of its growing client base in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Drill Pipe Hardbanding

Bossong Engineering continues to expand its range of premium services that is capable of providing to the Oil and Gas industry with the successful development of drill pipe hardbanding. The hardbanding process has been highly successful with turn around times exceeding expectations. The business has unique robotic capabilities which creates a precise, consistent and premium quality weld that meets all customer specifications and requirements and ensures a casing friendly surface finish. Bossong has an extensive range of hard banding products that it is capable of applying which includes:

The advantage of Hardbanding is that it protects and extends the life of costly drill pipe and tool joint material from the wear associated with rotational and axial friction forces while drilling and tripping in and out of a well.

Cargo Basket production

The Drill Rod Cargo Baskets have begun production with the experienced team of fabricators at Bossong Engineering making the design concept reality. Over the coming weeks production will continue with phases of development further illustrated as progress occurs.
