Pump Shaft Sleeves That Last Longer
Back in 1995 one of our customers had a problem with maintenance costs due to failures with their slurry pumps. After research and development looking into all the pump components we discovered that failure with the pump shaft sleeve was a major cause of production down time.
Our answer?
Welded protective coating of the sleeves.
Bossong Engineering is known for its innovation in the plasma transferred arc process. We have developed an overlay mixture that has been proven to last longer in harsh environments against abrasion and corrosion. All sleeves are diamond ground to precision tolerances and surface finishes that optimise performance.
What this means for your pump shaft sleeves:
- Our pump sleeves have lasted more than 10 times the life of conventional sleeves.
- Trials conducted in highly abrasive areas of the Alumina processing industry have exceeded 5800 hours.
- Cost effective solution to mechanical seals.
- Eliminates unplanned shutdowns caused by premature failure of sleeves.
- Lower environmental impact is achieved through reduced use of gland water and reduced seal bypass.
- Specialty sleeves are manufactured for severely corrosive environments.
- High temperature operation resulting from gland water failure or “dry” operation has not caused sleeve failure.
- The increased life now exceeds the life of wet end components (pump volutes, doors and throat bushes) reducing pump maintenance costs and maintenance frequency.
- Installation and maintenance of sleeves and packing is a simple process (when compared to mechanical seals).
We also like to work with our customers to continually improve and adapt our product over time. When we get a sleeve back, we review its results and make changes and adapt the product to make it better if necessary. This is a valuable process as it allows us to develop a better longer lasting sleeve that saves cost as well as downtime and repairs.
